OUR PHILOSOPHY

At JOY Academy, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, curious, and connected. Our philosophy is simple: children grow through meaningful experiences, caring relationships, and the joy of discovery.

Our Waldorf-inspired approach helps us teach the whole child. This means we support each child’s mind, heart, body, and spirit—not just academics. Children learn through stories, art, music, movement, nature, hands-on work, daily routines, and real-life experiences.

We want children to grow in ways that are healthy, balanced, and age-appropriate:
  • Head: building thinking, problem-solving, and understanding
  • Heart: nurturing kindness, confidence, imagination, and joy
  • Hands: learning through creativity, movement, practical skills, and hands-on work

We do not believe learning should be rushed or driven by high-pressure testing. Instead, we meet children where they are and help them grow with confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Parents can expect our learning environment to value:
  • Warm relationships and community connection
  • Respect for each child’s natural growth
  • Hands-on learning and real-life experiences
  • Joy, curiosity, imagination, and creativity
  • Kindness, responsibility, and good judgment

Note: As per NRS 392.070, 394.125, 394.130, NAC 389 Standards for private school licensing in the State of Nevada -
"Our curriculum, exclusive of religious instruction, provides equivalent instruction of the kind and amount approved by the State Board of Education."

We also teach and practice Stephen R. Covey's 8 Habits for Happy Kids to help our students in becoming future leaders:
  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin With the End in Mind
  3. Put First Things First
  4. Think Win-Win
  5. Seek First to Understand Then to Be Understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the Saw
  8. Find Your Voice
