At JOY Academy, we focus on learning, not testing. We don't believe students are ever "behind".
We offer an environment that aims to support each student in being self-directed learners and engaging with their world. In support of our belief, we have Family Days or field trips every Friday!
We use Waldorf-inspired curriculum: Our curricular and educational practices include methods commonly found in Waldorf schools, focusing on the whole child: head, heart and hands. Waldorf is considered the fastest-growing independent school movement in the world. Our teaching allows us to tie back to the Waldorf values:
Family and community life
The healthy unfolding of childhood
Joy in the learning process
An education focused on wholeness in body, soul and spirit
Intellectual excellence, imagination, strong memory and problem-solving skills
Note: As per NRS 392.070, 394.125, 394.130, NAC 389 Standards for private school licensing in the State of Nevada - "Our curriculum, exclusive of religious instruction, provides equivalent instruction of the kind and amount approved by the State Board of Education."
We also teach and practice Stephen R. Covey's 8 Habits for Happy Kids to help our students in becoming future leaders:
