Our first full year was full of fun, JOYful learning! In the fall, we watched the national presidential election closely and had 4 students represent 4 of the candidates. Platforms were researched, presented and all students voted. They lined up outside the office to enter the voting booth that was created.
The second annual BOX day was based on Inventions. We have a lot of budding Edisons and Einsteins! We found out that it is absolutely okay to find out what does NOT work. Our TEAMS were busy learning many new things all year: Chess, Rubiks, Sign Language, drama, ukuleles. The building team put together a rabbit house that could house a whole family of rabbits! All students performed in our 2 big shows: a musical nativity in December - Night of Wonder, and our 2nd annual Shakespeare production in May - A Midsummer Night's Dream. We, of course, added music to the Shakespeare show. The kindergarten fairy group gave a sweet rendition of "Dream a Little Dream of Me". Our ukulele players showed off their new skills with "Can't Help Falling in Love". We think musical Shakespeare is a win-win! A few fun memories from this year: going to Scotland, Germany, Italy, Jerusalem, and learning about Native Americans during our Family Share days; students receiving licenses for Rollberblading and naming the basketball court The Autobahn; Art with Mrs. Foutz and doing our own Van Gogh chalk art; Science days with Ms. Borum; intriguing critters visiting with Ms. Stephanie from Wild things; saying farewell to Coco the 10 year old tarantula; and pizza parties for the many Math students doing amazing work! Bravo to all the students and all they did. We are already looking forward to next school year!
