accreditation

We understand why parents ask about accreditation. Families want confidence that their child’s education is legitimate, meaningful, and respected. At JOY Academy of Southern Nevada, we want to be clear: external accreditation is one way schools may demonstrate quality, but it is not the only way—and in Nevada, private K–12 schools are not required to be accredited in order to operate legally or provide a valid education.

JOY Academy is a private nonprofit faith-based K–12 school licensed by the Nevada Department of Education. Our curriculum, records, and operations are maintained in accordance with Nevada requirements for private schools. This means we are not operating without oversight. We are operating under the standards Nevada has established for private education.

For more than10 years, JOY Academy has served families with stability, consistency, and a clear mission. We have chosen to invest our time and resources directly into students, teachers, curriculum, and family communication rather than into the fees and processes of an outside accrediting agency. This independence allows us to stay focused on the values and outcomes that matter most to our school community.

Our strongest evidence is our record: over a decade of lawful operation, parent trust, responsible leadership, and commitment to helping students become engaged, self-directed learners who can work, plan, persevere, and accomplish the tasks set before them.

JOY high school students have successfully transferred credits to local Clark County School District high schools, and JOY Academy graduates have continued their education at institutions such as BYU, ASU, and USC. As with any school, acceptance of credits, transcripts, diplomas, or program eligibility is determined by the receiving institution, so families should confirm requirements directly with specific colleges, employers, military programs, athletic organizations, or transfer schools. JOY Academy is committed to helping families provide the documentation those institutions may request. Lack of external accreditation does not mean a school is illegitimate, unregulated, or academically weak.
